Landmark agreement grants Indian exporters near-total duty-free access to Oman while offering cheaper imports to Indian consumers. Expected to add $2 billion to bilateral trade in next 2-3 years.
The India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) officially came into force on Monday, ushering in a new chapter of enhanced economic cooperation between the two nations.
The pact provides duty-free market access for thousands of products, dramatically boosting opportunities for Indian exporters while delivering cost benefits to Indian consumers through select Omani imports.
Omani dates will now enter India under quota-based duty concessions, offering immediate relief to consumers. Tariff reductions have also been extended to certain marble products and petrochemical items. Sensitive sectors such as gold, silver, jewellery, dairy, cereals, edible oils, spices, and footwear remain protected.
Under the CEPA, 99.38% of India’s exports by value will now enjoy duty-free access to Oman, a sharp rise from just 15.33% earlier. Key sectors set to benefit include textiles & garments, gems & jewellery, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, leather products, footwear, processed foods, marine products, electronics, and agriculture.
India’s pharmaceutical sector stands to gain significantly with zero-duty access for medicines, vaccines, pharmaceutical ingredients, and major antibiotics. Electronics exports also have huge potential, as Oman imported $1.7 billion worth of electronics in 2025 while India’s share remains modest at $146 million.
The agreement significantly improves mobility for Indian professionals. Business visitors can now stay up to 90 days, independent professionals up to 180 days, and intra-corporate transferees up to four years. The quota for corporate transfers has been increased from 20% to 50%.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal stated that the deal will create jobs, strengthen manufacturing, and enhance the competitiveness of Indian industries. Bilateral trade currently stands at $11.18 billion. Officials expect an additional $2 billion in trade over the next two to three years.
For Oman, the agreement provides access to one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies. For India, it unlocks Oman’s $28 billion import market and serves as a strategic gateway to the Gulf Cooperation Council and East Africa.
ऐतिहासिक समझौते से भारतीय निर्यातकों को ओमान में लगभग पूर्ण शुल्क मुक्त पहुंच मिली, जबकि भारतीय उपभोक्ताओं को चुनिंदा ओमानी उत्पाद सस्ते मिलेंगे। अगले 2-3 वर्षों में द्विपक्षीय व्यापार में 2 अरब डॉलर का इजाफा संभव।
भारत-ओमान व्यापक आर्थिक साझेदारी समझौता (सीईपीए) सोमवार को लागू हो गया, जो दोनों देशों के बीच आर्थिक सहयोग को नई ऊंचाई देगा।
इस समझौते के तहत हजारों उत्पादों पर शुल्क मुक्त व्यापार संभव हो गया है।
ओमानी खजूर पर कोटा आधारित शुल्क छूट मिलेगी। कुछ मार्बल और पेट्रोकेमिकल उत्पाद भी सस्ते होंगे। संवेदनशील क्षेत्र जैसे सोना-चांदी, आभूषण, डेयरी आदि संरक्षित रहेंगे।
भारत के निर्यात का 99.38% अब ओमान में ड्यूटी फ्री जाएगा। टेक्सटाइल, ज्वेलरी, इंजीनियरिंग, फार्मा और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स क्षेत्र को विशेष लाभ मिलेगा।
व्यवसायिक यात्रियों को 90 दिन, प्रोफेशनल्स को 180 दिन और कॉर्पोरेट ट्रांसफर को 4 साल तक रहने की सुविधा।
व्यापार मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि यह समझौता रोजगार बढ़ाएगा और भारतीय उद्योगों को मजबूती देगा। वर्तमान व्यापार 11.18 अरब डॉलर है, जिसमें 2 अरब डॉलर का और इजाफा होने की उम्मीद है।
تاریخی معاہدے کے تحت بھارتی برآمد کنندگان کو عمان میں تقریباً مکمل ڈیوٹی فری رسائی مل گئی جبکہ بھارتی صارفین کو منتخب عمانی مصنوعات سستی ملیں گی۔ اگلے 2-3 سالوں میں دو طرفہ تجارت میں 2 ارب ڈالر کا اضافہ متوقع۔
بھارت-عمان جامع معاشی شراکت داری معاہدہ (سی ای پی اے) پیر کو نافذ ہو گیا، جو دونوں ممالک کے درمیان معاشی تعاون کو نئی بلندی دے گا۔
اس معاہدے کے تحت ہزاروں مصنوعات پر ڈیوٹی فری تجارت ممکن ہو گئی ہے۔
عمانی کھجور پر رعایتیں ملیں گی۔ حساس شعبوں جیسے سونا، چاندی اور زیورات پر ڈیوٹی برقرار رہے گی۔
بھارت کے 99.38% برآمداتی مال کی ویلیو اب عمان میں ڈیوٹی فری داخل ہو سکے گی۔ فارما، الیکٹرانکس اور ٹیکسٹائل کو خاص فائدہ ہوگا۔
کاروباری زائرین 90 دن، پروفیشنلز 180 دن اور انٹرا کارپوریٹ ٹرانسفریز 4 سال تک رہ سکیں گے۔
تجارت وزیر پیوش گوئل نے کہا کہ یہ معاہدہ روزگار پیدا کرے گا اور بھارتی صنعتوں کو مضبوط بنائے گا۔
